Written in blood by Chris Carter

Written in blood by Chris Carter

Written in blood is Chris Carter’s 11th book in the Robert Hunter series. I was kindly gifted a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. And I am delighted to say this book was amazing!

Robert Hunter works with the UVC unit in LA. He and his partner, Garcia, investigate Ultra Violent Crimes, which includes serial killers. They are put on the trail of a prolific serial killer when a pickpocket, Angela, steals the killers bag containing his murder diary. The diary details the previous 16 murders committed by the killer. Hunter and Garcia must catch the perpetrator before he can kill again and protect Angela from him.

Fireproof (Maggie O’Dell #10) – Alex Kava

Firproof – Alex Kava

Fireproof is the tenth installment in the Maggie O’Dell series. It tells the story of a series of arsons that Maggie is tasked to profile and runs concurrently alongside the beginning of a case of a serial killer, killing people at rest stops along the highway.

If you’ve read the series before you’ll be glad to know that all our favourite characters are back. Agent Tully is joined with Maggie once again, to profile the arsonist and determine if he is causing the body count that seems out of place in the buildings being set fire to.

Prime Suspect by Lynda La Plante

Prime suspect – Lynda La Plante

This story starts a bit like The Red Dahlia – the second book in La Plante’s Anna Travis series – whereby the lead detective on a case dies/becomes incapacitated by ill health, and so a new detective has to take their place. This happens to be a woman called Jane Tennison, in this case, and she has to jump straight into a well liked, older, respected male colleague’s place – against the wishes of his loyal subordinates.

BOOK SWAP – The Single Girl’s To Do List – Lindsey Kelk and Pretty Girls – Karin Slaughter

Every so often we like to do a book swap. Kate likes YA mainly and Becca enjoys thrillers. It’s good to try something different, so we came up with a book swap where we each give each other one of our reads and see what the other thinks.

This month we did ‘The Single Girl’s To Do List’ by Lindsey Kelk (being Kate’s chic lit choice) and ‘Pretty Girls’ by Karin Slaughter (being Becca’s thriller choice). Here’s what we each thought of our respective swaps!Read More »

The Red Dahlia – Lynda La Plante

One of my all time favourite books, is Above Suspicion by Lynda La Plante. I read it such a long time ago and I absolutely loved it as soon as I started it. The Red Dahlia is the second book in the Anna Travis series, and I’ve wanted to read it for ages.

This year, Kate and I tried out the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod – where we exchanged books on Christmas eve to be read throughout the day/night. Now, while I didn’t get much reading done on Christmas eve, I have made up for it since and this was just such a fantastic read. I’m super thankful that I got it from Kate, so thank you 🙂
