It is the fifth in the Grant Series, following Dr Sara Linton and her husband, Police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver. This book starts with Sara and Jeffrey arguing (as usual) in the forest behind Sara’s parent’s house around the lake. Jeffrey’s past is catching up with him again, as he hears devastating news from the woman he cheated on Sara with. Whilst arguing, the pair come across a body buried in the ground beneath them.
Everyone has a list of their favourite books of all time. Well maybe not a physical list, but definitely an idea floating around in their subconscious, of the books that they could read again and again, or that only needed reading once, but packed a massive punch. For those of us who have a passion for reading, the list of all time favourite reads can get a little long. But if you had to pick a top… 5… What would they be..? Here are our top 5 reads each and why we love them so much. Do you agree? What are your favourites? Let us know.
Nothing to Fear is the 4th instalment in the romantic suspense series from Karen Rose, and it is also the 3rd in the Chicago series.
We have got the usual mix of murder, sex, violence and passion. Karen Rose is just the best at writing grisly murder with blood and horror, then on the next page giving you steamy hot sex. There’s never a dull moment in any of her books, with something going on with every page turn. We have all the regular characters that appear throughout the series, which makes it so easy to read.
Indelible – Grant county series No. 4 – by Karin Slaughter.
This is a good place to start if you don’t start at the beginning of the series. (I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to read them all in order though, they are all so fab!) It is kind of the origin story for Sara and Jeffrey and tells of the very early part of their relationship and how that has shaped the dynamic of their future relationship. Once you’ve read this, you can understand more about the present day Sara and Jeffrey.
The Nanny by Melissa Nathan is one of my all time favourite books!
Now, if anyone knows me, then they know that my genre of reading material is thriller, crime, mystery…. not fluffy rom com books about romance and girly stuff. But I read this book back when I was an early teenager and it has just stuck with me ever since. I have read it a bunch of times and each time I laugh out loud at bits, I get anxious about certain bits, and I get angry at other bits. A book must be good to get these reactions from me, when I’ve read it so many times! I’ve just had to buy a new copy as mine is falling apart – of course the original will sit pride of place on my favourites book shelf from now on 🙂
This is the third book in the Grant County series by Karin Slaughter. We catch up with Sara, Jeffrey and Lena and of course there’s a death in town.
I’ve read this book before and loved it back then, as much as now. It’s not the best in the series, but that in no way detracts from the awesomeness of Sara and Jeffrey’s case solving skills. Karin writes this like the rest of her books, with suspense, gore and mystery. It isn’t for the faint hearted – like nearly all her books – they are graphic and bloody. 🙂
Say you’re sorry is the twenty-second book in the romantic suspense series by Karen Rose, however, it is the first in the new Sacramento series.
I am always super excited when a KR book comes out. She is one of my top authors, and reading her books is just such a comfort blanket – even with all the gore and violence, it still makes me feel … cosy. 🙂
