House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J. Maas –
PLEASE NOTE THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!
If the rest of the books that I read so far this year were the warm up act, this is the main event! At 799 number of pages long this is a big meaty book which I wished I purchased on kindle as well as carrying this in my bag and reading in public was not easy to do. After concluding her Throne of Glass series over a year ago this is Maas next trilogy, and her first adult one at that, Crescent City House of Earth and Blood. Now I am a HUGE Maas fan, and if Corona hadn’t happened, would have been in Birmingham to see her on tour a few weeks back, so it pains me a little to say that so far – this book didn’t quite do it for me.
For starters, it was too long. I love big books – but this was overly long for the amount of story that happened in it. I get that Maas is building a new world here and she’s trying to get back story, personal history and political alliances in but oh lordy sometimes I was reading it and felt as though the story hadn’t actually developed.
“The book was falling… I was reaching for it, and …. your lips were in the way” – I loved this line, it made me laugh so much.
Ah the joy of buying random books from Amazon for my Kindle. I saw this book initially on Goodreads and thought ah well, give it a go. I downloaded the sample chapter and had to download the rest of the book immediately. Now when I say I had to download immediately it was more to do with me being intrigued as to what was actually going on.
So as you can probably tell, we don’t have an April wrap up this month, Becca and I have both been on a depressing reading hiatus recently and neither of us have actually read anything much this month. So instead today I thought I would share with you my April Favourites.
I am going to say at the start of this that I often find Lindsey Kelk books to be a bit like Marmite – I either love them ( The Single Girls To Do List) or find them to be a bit ‘blah’ ( About A Girl springs to mind), but I really like Lindsey Kelk – I follow her on social media and I love how warm and bubbly she comes across and how she shows ‘real life’ , so as I like Lindsey whenever she brings out a new book I can’t help but want to read it.
Here it FINALLY is, my second beauty blog post! Admittedly, I could have gone with something a little less challenging but hey ho there is nothing like jumping in at the deep end, so here it is, my complete overview of everything from Glossier.
All opinions are mine and yes I have screenshotted the Glosser website as owning every product on the website, as lovely as that would be, is not doable.
Well this got off to a good start – I went on the Glossier website so I could remind myself of some of the products and ended up buying two face masks… ooops! Read More »
