I was blown away by this one. I kept stopping reading to make it last longer.

My favourite books are thrillers – and my favourite sub genre of this, is a good police procedural. I love a gritty nuanced detective to get to know and a difficult case to solve, preferably with a serial killer at the helm. Eeny Meeny had this, and more!

Prime suspect – Lynda La Plante

This story starts a bit like The Red Dahlia – the second book in La Plante’s Anna Travis series – whereby the lead detective on a case dies/becomes incapacitated by ill health, and so a new detective has to take their place. This happens to be a woman called Jane Tennison, in this case, and she has to jump straight into a well liked, older, respected male colleague’s place – against the wishes of his loyal subordinates.

The Red Dahlia – Lynda La Plante

One of my all time favourite books, is Above Suspicion by Lynda La Plante. I read it such a long time ago and I absolutely loved it as soon as I started it. The Red Dahlia is the second book in the Anna Travis series, and I’ve wanted to read it for ages.

This year, Kate and I tried out the Icelandic tradition of Jolabokaflod – where we exchanged books on Christmas eve to be read throughout the day/night. Now, while I didn’t get much reading done on Christmas eve, I have made up for it since and this was just such a fantastic read. I’m super thankful that I got it from Kate, so thank you šŸ™‚
